Mars: The Ultimate Voyage - April Public Show
Join in with a crew to learn about the major dangers related to human space exploration, and how we solve these problems.
The Madison Metropolitan School District Planetarium (MMSD Planetarium) provides immersive experiences for groups and public audiences bringing out-of-this-world concepts down to Earth. The planetarium is a field trip destination for explorers of all ages.
In this multi-media theater, we can simulate the day and night sky on our domed ceiling to explore a vast array of concepts related to astronomy, space exploration and other STEAM topics.
Group programs are offered during the school day, with a very limited number of after school and evening programs that may be scheduled as well.
Public programs are offered on a monthly basis, in the evenings, throughout the school year.
The planetarium also offers a telescope loan program.
Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon 50th Anniversary FULLDOME Program comes to the planetarium! Tickets on sale now!!
Be prepared to look at the April 8, 2024 Solar eclipse!
Did you know the sun is a great object to look at any day... sometimes its sunspots are so large that you can see them with just your eyes (protected with these amazing eclipse glasses, of course) from our spaceship Earth at more than 93,000,000 miles away.
Glasses purchased must be picked up at the planetarium by appointment or at any of our public events. Cost is $5 per pair with all proceeds directly benefiting the planetarium. Send an email to the planetarium to arrange for a pickup time.
Cash or check is our preferred method of payment but payment through our online store is possible, if you have to use a credit card.
Buy a pair for yourself, every family member, as a gift, or simply donate the purchase so that we can provide safe eclipse glasses to others in our community.
Additional donations welcomed!!
We have eclipse filters in both the glasses and plate styles...
